Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Gargari Gutity G1
Producer: Gargari Washing Station
Process: Natural
Altitude: 2349 masL
Varietals: Ethiopian Landraces 74110, Kurume
Nestled in the Southern Ethiopian village of Banko Gutity, Gedeb, this naturally organic coffee is cultivated by 2400 smallholder farmers and nourished by the Gutity River. These prized, small-sized beans are delivered to the Gargari washing station, where they are meticulously processed. Hand-picked cherries are floated and then naturally fermented on raised African drying beds for 19-21 days, with constant turning and quality checks.
The beans undergo a rigorous cleaning process, including hulling, polishing, and multiple sorting stages, before being packed in Grainpro for export. This coffee boasts a vibrant acidity and complex fruit notes, characteristic of the heirloom variety and high altitude.
The Banko Gutity community, supported by initiatives like new underground water sources, has received prestigious awards, including the African Fine Coffees Association's Taste of Harvest and recognition at the World Barista Championship. This coffee is CAFE PRACTICE, RFA, and Organic-certified, and sourced through Primrose Coffee, a vertically integrated exporter and proud member of the Ethiopian Chapter of the International Women's Coffee Alliance.
