This guide outlines our recommended espresso parameters for the Emergent Blend, optimized for milk-based beverages.

Espresso Recipe (Milk)

  • Dose In: 24g (using a 22g VST basket)

  • Yield Out: 50g (double-shot)

  • Extraction Time: 28-34 seconds

  • Brew Temperature: 94°C

Best Practices for Consistent Extraction

For optimal and even extraction, we recommend the following:

  • Precise Dosing: Weigh every dose to ensure consistency.

  • Grounds Distribution: Employ the WDT (Weiss Distribution Technique) or ensure even distribution by shaking grounds in a dosing cup before tamping (AutoComb or similar recommended) .

  • Level Tamping: Tamp evenly and consistently. For those utilizing a Puqpress, we recommend a setting of 15kg.

Dialing In & Troubleshooting

Adjusting Grind: If your extraction time falls outside the recommended 28-34 second window, adjust your grinder accordingly.

  • Sensory Evaluation: Prioritise taste over visual cues and aroma when assessing shot quality. This is the ultimate determinant of a properly extracted espresso.
